Nationwide Survey in Aotearoa NZ
Published in February 2025
This nationwide study examines consumer perspectives on Right to Repair legislation and repair behaviour in Aotearoa New Zealand. Commissioned by Repair Network Aotearoa and conducted through a marketing research firm, the online survey gathered responses from 1,500 consumers aged 18 and over in October 2024. The findings reveal strong public support for Right to Repair legislation. Survey respondents overwhelmingly agreed that manufacturers should provide product durability and repairability information, that products should carry repairability labels, and that repair manuals and software updates should be provided free of charge beyond the warranty period. This report provides recommendations for stakeholders interested in facilitating repair behaviour, including Repair Cafés, policymakers, product manufacturers, and marketers.
